This issue of the Journal of Solution Focused Practices covers the second half of 2024. We have three important peer-reviewed articles directly relating to solution-focused (SF) practice in action. David Hains, Kate Kowalski and Maggie Krogull tell Maggie’s story in Beyond Technique, about using SF over a long timescale. Nick Perry and Luke Goldie-McSorley write about their experiences using SF with young people in acute mental health crisis situations in Suspending Disbelief, and Joe Lettieri and Ayse Adil give a detailed account of a ‘silent session’ in Unspoken Answers.

We also have Fiona Robinson and Rose McCabe writing about their process to develop a whole-school SF programme, and a validation of the Solution Building Inventory tool into the Persian language. Joel Simon and Enrique Puebla write about their international discussion on Opportunity Analysis, a fascinating approach which surely has a future in how we teach and learn SF. There are also two vital research reviews (one scoping all the SF research from 2023, the other pointing out seven key papers published elsewhere), an opinion piece from Steve Flatt on the Fourth Cognitive R/Evolution, and our usual generous crop of book reviews.

This concludes the first full year of JSFP’s operations with the present editorial team. I would like to acknowledge our editors and sub-editor, the editorial board members, peer reviewers and book reviewers and international sponsors who have made it all possible. And of course, our authors - without you, we’d have nothing to publish! And thanks once again go to the Scholastica team for their typesetting and quick responses to queries. This latest issue sees more peer-reviewed content, a trend we are hoping to continue.

Finally, the cover colours for this number have been chosen to reflect one of the passions of Steve de Shazer, co-founder of solution focused practice. This time we are sporting the classic blue and gold of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team, where Steve spent many happy hours sipping a beer and enjoying the action.
